Michelle Duster has spent more than three decades preserving Black history and elevating the contributions of African Americans and women. She has written, edited, or contributed to more than twenty books, with work appearing in TIME, Ms., Essence, and beyond. Through monuments, murals, markers, and public history projects, she keeps her great-grandmother's fight for truth visible in the public square, carrying Ida's legacy into a new generation.
